Gina Graduated from College!! She'll be heading to North Carolina in the fall for grad school.
It's been quite a while since i updated this thing, but for a while there i didn't really feel like I had anything to update! The last month however has been quite a whirlwind. Let's see... I turned 29, which is apparently about as bad as turning 30, because all the teasing about "almost being old" has caused me to actually accidentally tell two people that I was 30. Maybe I'm losing my mind already, well, probably not "maybe". Most significantly, to me anyway, I am now out of school for the summer!! It was actually a birthday present as my last day with students was June 2nd. What else... oh, my parents came out for a week long visit about two weeks ago. It was a super fun time. We did the strip thing but also went to Zion for two days. This was my mom's first National Park and I think only my dad's second. I think they had a great time despite the 100+ temps. And now I am in Ohio. I've been here since Thursday and today was the first day that it felt like i got to sit down for more than 5 minutes at a time. It's been great though - I've been able to see lots of family because of the church festival and a graduation party. I really do miss have so much family around. Well, that's all for now! Here are a few pictures from the past month.

Snow!

Hiking with the Neighbors
Beautiful Sandstone Quarry
The Joshua tree in my backyard
Huge flakes!
Last Thursday we got about 1.5 in of snow at my house (which was gone by Friday morning) and much much more in the mountains. As you can see, winter in the desert is beautiful! Saturday I took a trip out to Red Rock with some neighbors and went for a hike - i miss playing in the snow sometimes! I think the difference is that here it is snowy and SUNNY instead of gray.

Spain!

Flowers outside the Castle of Alcazaba
Part of the Alcazaba or Fortress that used to protect the city
View of Malaga's port and a cool government building from the Alcazaba
I just returned from a trip to Spain with Adam for my holiday break. We met up with Ian and his girlfriend Eleftheria part way through the trip which was a great bonus. Adam and I spent the first week doing the tourist thing where we checked out the cities of Malaga and Granada, both of which are in Southern Spain. These areas are part of what is called the "Costa del Sol" which is very ironic because it rained 99% of the time we were there. The trip was quite an adventure, mostly because travel in Spain is quite difficult over the holidays because most public transportation is limited or nonexistant not only on christmas and new years, but also for a day before and after the holiday. I'll post more pictures soon.

Ghost Town

This past Saturday Adam and I drove out to Nelson, NV where there is an old ghost town/mining camp. It was pretty cool, but the couple that owns the town has done a bit of restoration which made it feel a little bit fake. Supposidly in it's hey-day the town was notorious for it's frequent murders great mining claims. In recent history a few movies have been shot there like 3000 Miles to Graceland with Kevin Costner (never saw it) and a few others that I can't remember right now.
