Kolob Reservoir

Last week Oscar and I went up to Laverkin, UT to look at a camper (no go) and decided that if we were going to drive all that way, we should make a little trip out of it.  Adam had the awesome suggestion of camping at Kolob Reservoir which is at 8,100 ft and along a beautiful drive (just ask Pat and Karen ;)).  Oscar was a total trouper and handled the heat of checking out the trailer, the curvy roads (he's gotten car sick before), and the wildlife like a champ.  Utah really never ceases to amaze me and we always ask ourselves why we don't head that way more often - it's only about a 3 hour drive to Zion and only about 3.5ish (unless you're stopping to take pictures...) to the reservoir.

Random summer pics

The yard is pretty much in full bloom right now.

Mean mesquite.

He/she didn't care about me at all!
The Blue Diamond Ohioans.
Rusty got in the spirit for my little B-day party.
Adam sent me flowers for my birthday.  What a guy :)
Oscar helping with yard clean-up

It's been soooo hot.  Oscar welcomes any relief.

Gina came for a quick weekend visit.  It was wonderful.
There is a neighborhood peacock.  I screeches like a maniac.  We still aren't sure who it belongs to.
We've spent some time at Mt. Charleston to get some relief from the heat...and of course do some climbing.

Our new pet!  Barry the beta.
Um, hello - someone rub my belly.

Beautiful Day!

We've had a beautiful and wet spring out here!  These pictures are from a walk that Oscar and I took right outside of Blue Diamond.  It had just rained and everything was so vibrant and smelled amazing.  I wish Blogger had a scratch and sniff option!

I love the vibrant green with the black branches.

  Flowers are emerging.

 Misty, wet trail.

 Speed racer.

I just love the tiny cacti.  I didn't do a good job of capturing the scale, but these guys are mini.  The top one is about the size of a baseball and below, the size of a golf ball.

Magical tunnel fort.

Spring Break

I'm not sure what's up with this gap at the top - I posted the pics from my phone so maybe that's the prob??

We had an awesome spring break two weeks ago with a little trip to Bishop and a visit from old friends.
Everyone was happy to be on the road!

The wise wizard.

The drive to Bishop is one of my favorites.  So beautiful

Camp spot wasn't too shabby.  The first day was the warmest, least windy day.  We apparently always bring the gale force winds with us when we come to Bishop.

We even had creek access.

One day we went bouldering up toward Mammoth at a beautiful, forested spot.  Oscar made himself at home.

We ended up climbing in some snow!  Oscar, king of the forest.

Poor Oscar is truly built for the snow, not the Las Vegas desert.

Having a blast catching snow.  Adam doing a jig!

Impressive moves.

The Eastern Sierras are amazing.

Back at lower elevations, Oscar surveys his domain.

Can you tell how windy it is!?  Look at Oscar's face!

Moon over the Happy Boulders.

My boys snug as a bug in a rug.

You know it's chilly when Oscar stays under a blanket.

Back in Vegas, the old crew plus a few new additions from when we knew Michele, Brandon, and Dan back in Ohio.  L to R: Jessie (she's a new addition, Dan's wife), Michele and Izzy (also a new addition), Brandon, Dan, Oscar and Adam.  It had been about 13 years since Adam had seen Dan and about 9 for me (he and Brandon came out on a climbing trip one time when Adam was gone).  It had been about 3 years since I had seen Brandon, Michele and Isabelle, and probably about 6 or so for Adam.  We had a super nice time catching up.

Isabelle sending.

Adam sending (with a butt spot).

We were exhausted by the end of the week, but it was totally worth it!
