Some Photos from the Past Month

I love when it's cloudy in Red Rock.

Interesting graffiti at Red Rock overlook

Adam and I took a trip the Utah hills a few weekends ago - this is the Snake Pit climbing area...luckily no snakes that I saw!

While driving home we came across an old gypsum mine/hole.  I was in all my nerdy glory and brought home probably 10 pounds.  Pretty cool to see the vein.

Dan Russel once again hooked us up with a nice evening at his aunt and uncle's house out here.  Adam and Pete were lookers!!
I think Pete won the award for best shoes.

Dan's aunt and uncle put on a fundraiser for M.D. Anderson Cancer center at the Wynn the next day where Larry King interviewed Football Hall of Fame-er Franco Harris.  Probably the most awkward interview I've ever witnessed.
However, Franco was super nice when I stalked him afterward to get an autograph for my Grandpa who's a big Steelers fan.

When Adam and I got back from Ohio we amazingly unpacked and then repacked all in one day so that we could take off for Shuteye Ridge (which is on/in the western side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California) as soon as possible. We has a great and very relaxing time hiking, mountain biking. laying in the hammock and climbing. I can't believe another summer has almost bit the dust! Just trying to enjoy my last few days!

My New Pony

This may be a bit more detail that you'd care to have but I posted these to show Adam. So as you can see, I took the plunge today and bought a bike! Perhaps a bit more bike than I need (or can handle) right now, but I'm optimistic that I'll grow into it :) I can't wait for Adam to come back and get his so I'll have someone to scrape me up off the trail!

Spring Flowers

Ok Harrington clan, what kind of flowers are these in the picture above? I'm a bit botanically challenged.
Lovely Lilacs

It's Been a While!

Soo...it's been awhile. In all honesty, not a whole lot new has been happenin'. I kind of feel like I'm living in the movie Groundhog Day. I get up, go teach, come home, read for my grad classes, maybe go to class, maybe write a paper or response for a class, and repeat. However, since I've posted last I did make it back to Ohio for Christmas and I got a long overdue visit from my old college roommate and friend Kim! The pics below are from a visit with grandma Frank over Christmas, a trip to the Kelso Dunes with Kim, and a Zappos company party that I went to with my friend Christi, who's cousin is an awesome high end party planner out here and planned the shindig. It was a 1920's party and awesomely done! Professional swing dancers, places where you could get your hair and make-up done, free drinks, free props. Of the about 1000 people there, I think I only saw about 10 that hadn't dressed up. Well, I have decided to give myself the day off from my groundhog life and am going to go hiking in the snow with Adam. Till next time....
