Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Global Warming may be caused by the decline in pirates over the last 200 years. Correlation am i right?
Attention all ye who yearn for a new religion or love pirates or would just like to be able to call yourself a pastafarian. You MUST check out this website. Hilarious!! Be sure to take a gander at the hate mail section because, of course, there will always be those who get their panties in a bunch. Also, make sure you read the Open Letter to Kansas School Board. Enjoy! The Link: http://www.venganza.org/

Weather

There's something about precipitation that makes you feel a bit more grounded. A little more connected to the earth and vulnerable. I never noticed it until I moved to the desert, where we have about 360 days of sun (not complaining). It's been cloudy and rainy here for the last 3 days and it's supposed to continue for about 2 more. These are the most consecutive days I've seen it like this since I moved here. I guess things also seem a bit more dramatic out here because the mountains usually look pretty menacing shrouded in clouds and snow. I took a trip out to Red Rock again today and took some pics. In other news, I applied for grad school...cross your fingers. I applied to UNLV for School Counseling. I guess you have to go through 3 rounds of interviews before they even let you into the program. I don't really know when I should hear something, but I hope it's soon b/c I'm really anxious to get started. Adam is still in Mexico climbing and having a great time. That's all for now! -oh and all of you like myself without photo editing software, check out picnik.com. Free and awesome.

Cross Country Trip

This past holiday Adam and I drove back from Ohio to Las Vegas. As we passed through areas, we stopped and did a little rock climbing. Above, windmills in Texas (note size comparison to barn). Above are pics from Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas. This place was awesome! Horses roaming around and lots of good climbing. Below are pics from the hotel that Adam and I stayed at in Jasper, AR which was built in 1947 and had a propane heater that clicked all night and drove us insane! Below are pics from just outside Chattanooga, TN where we stopped to visit our friend Matt. Very nice city which we've put in the back of our minds as a possible place to live someday...

Hell Has Frozen Over!!!

Check out our snow!! We currently, as of 4pm today have about 3 inches of snow with up to 6 expected! My neighbor said he's been here for 27 years and never seen anything like it. I heard on the radio that we haven't had significant snow accumulation on the valley floor since 1960 something. The kids were going crazy asking me if we could do a "snow lab" and go play outside. Maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow!! I guess they have shut down the main highway that goes between Las Vegas and Los Angeles because it goes through a few mountain passes.

Carter and My Mom have a conversation

Sled Riders (very tiny on the top of the dune) Nomadic Sled riders (very tiny on ridge line) Carter, the son of my cousin Todd and his wife Sarah loves to be talked to and even tries to participate. I have a feeling he's going to be a chatterbox when he grows up. (pic at bottom) I've also included some pics from when my Aunt Julie and Uncle Don came out to Vegas and I took them out to the Mojave Preserve on the Nevada - California border. See if you can find the nomadic sled riders on the dunes. Old Passenger Station - last saw passengers in 1997.
